On Friday April 28th, we held a session with our Peterborough-based customer, Student Transportation of Central Ontario (STSCO). STSCO sought our expertise to provide their staff with “hands on” school bus driver training. The team-building exercise allowed STSCO staff to gain a further understanding of a school bus driver’s job. The foresight to undertake this exercise is yet another example of how STSCO strives to be at the forefront of student transportation initiatives; having been the first school bus consortium in Ontario to implement a comprehensive school bus operator evaluation process.
Stephen Jackson, STSCO’s Operations Manager, kindly acknowledged our efforts, remarking:
We wanted to thank you for the opportunity today to have our staff learn how to drive a school bus.
The experience today enables our team to have a further understanding of what drivers deal with when driving. We anticipate this can only benefit our team’s planning of routing moving forward. It also assisted in a team building exercise for our group.
Both Patti Grad and Gord Blais from STC did a wonderful job leading the training. It was informative and was also a fun activity.
On behalf of STSCO and our School Boards thank you again for this opportunity today.
Operations Manager, STSCO
